About Pangea Propulsion:
We are a company dedicated to developing advanced propulsion systems for the space industry based on three key principles: high efficiency, sustainability, and reusability. We are revolutionizing the space industry with ground-breaking innovations that allow us to offer the best performance to cost propulsion systems.
Our goal is to be the propulsion provider for the next generation of spacecraft, which is essential to meet demands and compete in the booming space market of the next decade.
We are a passionate, multicultural, and multidisciplinary team pushing the boundaries of what is possible in space propulsion technology.
We have already made history by successfully testing the world's first 3D-printed Methalox Aerospike engine, marking a significant milestone for the space industry.
We are looking for talented professionals to join our international teams in Barcelona and Toulouse. We want to be a key player in improving diversity in the Aerospace sector as, in Pangea, we believe that diversity (gender, age, race, sexual orientation, beliefs, disability, culture, etc.) is a key to success. Within Pangea, everyone can grow with the same opportunities. We encourage you to apply. Individually we are different, but together we are an amazing team!
We are looking for a Combustion Devices Intern for a 6 months internship in Barcelona.
About the role:
We are seeking an intern specializing in thermos fluids, mechanical, or aerospace engineering to join the Combustion Devices Design Team. The internship focuses on improving the design, modeling, and analysis tools used to develop liquid propulsion combustion chambers. The successful candidate will contribute to the advancement of cooling technologies, modeling frameworks, and internal development tools and may work on one of the following topics:
- Characterization of roughness and cooling channels, including cold flow testing, data processing, and integration into predictive tools
- Development of computational engineering models using programming (C#) to generate parametric geometries (e.g. with PicoGK) and support new design paradigms
- Upgrading and harmonizing in-house tools, including GUI development and optimization algorithms for chamber and cooling system design
Key Responsibilities:
· Plan and conduct cold flow experiments and characterize heat transfer in cooling channels
· Collaborate on computational modeling and system design using programmatic tools (e.g., PicoGK, C#)
· Improve existing in-house design tools and GUIs for combustion chambers and injectors
· Contribute to the implementation of design optimization strategies and automation workflows
· Document methodologies and present technical findings to the team
What you need to be successful:
· Final-year student in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related fields (e.g. EnergySystems, Thermofluids, Computational Engineering)
· Knowledge of thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid mechanics
· Interest in propulsion systems and combustion chamber development
· Basic programming knowledge (e.g., Python, C#, Matlab)
· Fluency in English (spoken and written)
Soft Skills:
· Analytical mindset and creative problem-solving
· Initiative and willingness to explore new tools and methods
· Strong communication and teamwork skills
· Flexibility and curiosity in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
Other useful skills:
· Familiarity with CFD, cooling analysis, or chamber flow modeling
· Experience with GUI development or object-oriented programming
· Background in experimental testing or post-processing of thermal-fluid data
· Spanish language skills
Not hitting every requirement? Research suggests that some people tend to hesitate when it comes to job applications if they don't meet all the desired qualifications. Here at Pangea Aerospace, we're committed to fostering a workplace that values diversity, inclusivity, and authenticity. So, if you're enthusiastic about this role but your prior experience doesn't align perfectly with every qualification mentioned in the job description, we still strongly encourage you to apply. You might just be the ideal candidate for this position or other opportunities within our organization.
